DNV GL recognized as accredited certification body for FSMA

Feb. 10, 2020
Quality assurance company is 10th certification body accredited under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently recognized the accreditation of an additional certification body (CB) under its Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited DNV GL Business Assurance USA for the following scopes: Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCHF), and Juice Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).

This accreditation gives DNV GL Business Assurance USA the authority to conduct food safety audits, and issue food and facility certifications under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program, established in accordance with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.

Certifications issued through this program can be used by importers to establish eligibility for participation in the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP), which offers expedited review of food entering the US.

To date, 10 certification bodies have been accredited under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.
