Bay & Bay names new trucking president

Oct. 9, 2024
Justin Johnson, formerly the Minnesota-based refrigerated transportation company’s president of logistics, replaces Lisa Gonnerman as head of the trucking division.

Bay & Bay Transportation, a refrigerated trucking and multimodal logistics company based in Eagan, Minnesota, recently named Justin Johnson president of trucking.

Johnson joined Bay & Bay in 2006 and has held numerous leadership positions for both the trucking and multimodal logistics divisions, including president of logistics, the company reported. Under Johnson’s leadership, Bay & Bay has been named to many prestigious lists, including Transport Topics’ Top Freight Brokerages.

Johnson replaces Lisa Gonnerman, who was named president of trucking in January 2023.

“Justin is the ideal leader for this role,” Bay & Bay CEO Sam Anderson said in a news release. “His experience and impact as president of logistics, combined with his deep knowledge of both trucking and customer service, makes him uniquely qualified for this position. With years of experience in sales and operations, he understands the complexities of the industry and how to meet our customers’ needs.”

Refrigerated Transporter previously profiled Bay & Bay, and its pivot to exclusively providing refrigerated transport, in 2021.

The company’s refrigerated trucking and multi-modal logistics segments have since grown more than 25% annually on average over the last three years, making it one of the largest reefer logistics providers in the U.S.

“Our plan will be to continue growing the non-asset side of our business at a minimum of 25% each year. The asset side will be focused on growth but more focused on profitability in the near term,” Johnson concluded.
