Coldpack has received two new certifications substantiating its products’ ability to meet the industry’s highest insulating standards. The distinctions, provided by the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) and the French certification body Cemafroid, underscore Coldpack’s commitment to the highest-performing cold chain systems for shipping temperature-sensitive products worldwide.
The firm has recently become a certified ISTA test lab at its San Diego CA facility. The location is certified to perform the industry-standard ISTA Test Procedure 7D—a thermal performance test designed to evaluate effects of external temperature exposure on packaged products, and a means for the manufacturer to assure safe arrival of packaged products to their destinations. The test is designed to measure relative ability of a package to protect a product in conditions that simulate shock and stress encountered during handling and transportation—including both range and time of exposure to ambient temperature conditions of normally encountered conditions.
One of Coldpack’s newest products, the AntiFreeze Vaccine Backpack can maintain and transport temperature-sensitive immunizations and was designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an approved vaccine transportation provider. It has been certified by Cemafroid as compliant with ISO 9001:2000 standards for manufacturing isothermal packaging.
Cemafroid is the official French World Health Organization laboratory. The company also acts as a certification body in the cold chain, evaluating manufacturers and test centers for transporting perishables. This certification is delivered under the control of the French ministry for agriculture, and applies to the food chain as well as pharmacy and all other cold chains. The certification covers Coldpack’s San Diego and Paris and Villejuif, France sites.
Coldpack is actively pursuing ISO 9001 certification for its San Diego and France facilities.
