Pullman strengthens support of Carrier Transicold customers

Pullman recently replaced its 35-unit van fleet and hired 10 technicians to support Carrier Transicold customers.

Pullman Fleet Services, a long-standing Carrier Transicold network service partner, recently replaced its 35-unit van fleet and hired 10 technicians in an effort to bolster its aftersales support of Transicold customers.

The new 3.5-tonne (3.9-US ton) service vans feature the latest generation of tooling and a new internal storage system to increase equipment capacity, Pullman said, with expectations to be in operation up to 24 hours per day, seven days per week, covering the East of Scotland, South and West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and North London.

The new techs increase Pullman’s maintenance capacity across its three service regions of Bathgate, Maltby and Spalding across the UK.

“Growing our team is vital to support Carrier’s expanding product range and customer base, and demonstrates our continued confidence in the brand—particularly as it introduces new flagship products like the Vector HE 19 trailer unit,” said James Hipkiss, general manager at Pullman Fleet Services.

“We carry out most service work at customer locations, so our fleet is business critical. Putting 35 new vans on the road is a major commitment, but it’s important we give our teams the best equipment for the job.”

Pullman also has put five of its technicians in Carrier Transicold UK’s training academy program since its launch in 2015. The academy’s objective is to ensure a steady flow of new talent into the network by providing quality training for future generations of transport refrigeration engineers.

“We’ve been putting new recruits through the training academy for four years and it’s great to see how their skills develop during the course,” Hipkiss said. “It’s a fantastic way to nurture the next generation of technicians into the industry.”

Pullman has been part of the Carrier Transicold service network for more than 20 years, trading as Carrier Transicold Bathgate, Carrier Transicold Lincolnshire and Carrier Transicold South & West Yorkshire, Carrier said. The Carrier Transicold network consists of independent companies operating from 22 locations nationwide, providing support to customers operating Transicold equipment on light commercials, trucks and trailers.

They collectively employ more than 160 mobile service technicians.
