Americold helping Feed the Children fight hunger during pandemic
Americold Realty Trust, a global owner and operator of temperature-controlled warehouses, recently partnered with Feed the Children to support COVID-19 relief for families in crisis.
As Feed the Children assists the most vulnerable in our communities who rely on school meals and feeding programs to survive, Americold is filling a critical need during the pandemic by providing complimentary temperature-controlled transportation services to deliver cold food to those who need it most.
Americold says it trucked 84,000 pounds of donated milk and dairy products from Texas to Leola PA, to one of Feed the Children’s community partners.
“In these uncertain times, we recognize the many challenges communities across the country are facing,” said Fred Boehler, president and CEO of Americold. “We are proud to support Feed the Children in their efforts to provide for families experiencing food insecurity. Americold associates work year round to help put food on tables around the world, and as testament to our ‘Cold Hands, Warm Heart’ culture, we are glad that we were able to jump in and make an immediate impact.”
In addition to these food transportation services, Americold donated $100,000 to Feed the Children for COVID-19 relief activities in April, the company said. With the donation, Feed the Children was able to deliver more food, water and daily essentials for living (like shampoo, laundry detergent and toothpaste) directly to families, as well as facilitate drop-and-go operations for children without food during school closures.
“This crisis has put a strain on our resources and the resources of our partners,” said Travis Arnold, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “However, through our amazing partnership with Americold we can support America’s most vulnerable during this crippling pandemic.
“We are grateful that with their help, we are not only supplying families with food and essentials, but also hope for the future.”
