Gillson Trucking adds TRU protection

California-based refrigerated fleet orders 500 ReeferShields invented by longtime temperature-controlled driver

ReeferShield inventor John Hadley says Stockton, Calif.-based Gillson Trucking recently ordered 500 ReeferShields for its fleet.

The ReeferShield is a safety product for transport refrigeration units (TRUs) that consists of a “strategically designed” system of straps and pads that secure and protect TRU doors and panels from debris and vibration.

“We see the value in ReeferShield on many levels, from safety to loss mitigation,”
Gillson co-founders Bikramjit and Harsimran Singh wrote in a recent letter to Hadley, a professional truck driver who has hauled refrigerated trailers across the country for more than three decades. “It is our intent to install ReeferShield on all of our refrigerated trailers, and to share some units with our valued constituents around the U.S.”

Hadley claims that the United States Patent Office recently granted and issued a patent for the ReeferShield. Now he’s looking to grow the market for the safety device through licensing, direct sales and other methods.

“This is a noteworthy achievement,” Hadley said in a release. “While the product has already earned plenty of accolades from other stakeholders, an official recommendation and sizable order from a prominent industry firm committee is an endorsement of unprecedented significance.”
