Sunswap expands partnership with TIP Group
Netherlands-based trailer leasing company TIP Group is expanding its partnership with Sunswap by placing another minimum order of 20 Endurance transport refrigeration units (TRUs) and commencing customer trials in an effort to deliver sustainable temperature-controlled transport solutions at scale across Europe.
TIP, an equipment and service provider operating in 18 countries, first began offering reefer trailers equipped with Sunswap’s battery- and solar-powered TRUs last year through a 12-month pilot program.
“We are thrilled that TIP has chosen Sunswap to help equip their trailers with our award-winning solar-powered refrigeration technology,” Alastair Gough, Sunswap head of business development, said in a news release. “Working with a forward-thinking organization such as TIP signifies a huge step in Sunswap’s expansion overseas.”
Sunswap will begin full-scale production of its reefer technology in March, the company said. It already is filling build slots while continuing to trial its system in the U.K.
“Sunswap’s refrigeration system is unique and this partnership allows us to offer our customers another sustainable solution for their refrigerated trailer fleet management needs,” said Rogier Laan, TIP vice president of sales and marketing. “We are excited to be at the forefront of the industry in implementing clean technology to reduce our customer’s carbon footprint.”
The partnership is allowing Sunswap to display Endurance’s viability as an alternative to diesel-powered systems for a diverse mix of fleets and international infrastructures, the company added.
“We are delighted TIP has recognized Sunswap’s potential to transform refrigerated transport across Europe, marking a new phase of our expansion,” Sunswap CEO Michael Lowe said.
“It’s not possible to change the world alone, so with visionary companies like TIP, we are accelerating the European cold chain’s shift toward a zero-emission future.”
