NASHVILLE—The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) spent part of the first day of the national trade group's Safety & Security Meeting on June 5 honoring first-, second-, and third-place winners of Fleet Safety Awards in six mileage-based divisions.
John Joines, VP of safety services for commercial vehicle insurance provider Great West Casualty Co., presented the awards during an afternoon session to safety directors of 18 fleets, including the two carriers—Canada's Big Freight Systems and Bison Transport—that were winners of TCA’s Fleet Safety Award Grand Prizes, in the small and large carrier divisions, at the association's Truckload 2022 in March.
The winning fleets in the six mileage-based divisions were:
- Division 1 (under 5 million miles per year): First place, JR Kays Trucking of Clarendon, Pennsylvania; second place, Diamond Transportation System of Racine, Wisconsin; third place, Meyers Bros. Trucking of Pioneer, Ohio.
- Division 2 (5 million to 14.99 million miles per year): First place, Parish Transport of Ellisville, Mississippi; second place, X-Treme Trucking of Maribel, Wisconsin; third place, Chief Carriers of Grand Island, Nebraska.
- Division 3 (15 million to 24.99 million miles per year): First place, Fortune Transportation of Windom, Minnesota; second place, Hill Brothers Transportation of Omaha, Nebraska; third place, Big Freight Systems of Steinbach, Manitoba.
- Division 4 (25 million to 49.99 million miles per year): First place, Johnson Feed of Canton, South Dakota; second place, Trans-West Logistics of Brampton, Ontario; third place, American Central Transport of Kansas City, Missouri.
- Division 5 (50 million to 99.99 million miles per year): First place, Groupe Robert of Mississauga, Ontario; second place, Brown Trucking of Lithonia, Georgia; third place, Challenger Motor Freight of Cambridge, Ontario.
- Division 6 (100 million or more miles per year): First place, Bison Transport of Winnipeg, Manitoba; second place, CFI of Joplin, Missouri; third place, Prime of Springfield, Missouri.
The 18 division winners were invited to compete for one of the two Grand Prizes, one for carriers with a total annual mileage of less than 25 million miles, and the other for carriers with mileage greater than 25 million miles.
