Central Freight Lines wins Texas safety awards

March 30, 2012

LTL carrier Central Freight Lines is again being honored by the Texas Motor Transportation Assn. (TMTA) for its superior achievement in reaching and maintaining the industry’s highest safety standards in the state of Texas. The TMTA has honored CFL with the first place P&D Division Fleet Safety Award along with first place Intercity 10-20 Million Miles Class Award for 2012.

Each year, TMTA recognizes the drivers of member companies that accomplished outstanding professional driving performance within the trucking industry. The winners are judged by the company’s lowest overall accident frequency experience rates. The safety award honors the carrier that has achieved the highest safety standards in the state.

“Our drivers are committed to safety awareness, professionalism and customer service which is reflected in our repeat award winning performances each year,” said Don Orr, president & CEO of Central Freight. “Texas is our home base and we are all proud to be a carrier that consistently promotes safety throughout the company ensuring a safe environment for those traveling on Texas highways.

“Our focus is both a safe and clean initiative that sets Central Freight apart from other carriers,” continued Orr. “We are committed to testing compressed natural gas tractors that are being added to our fleet next month in an effort to improve air quality in the areas where we operate, specifically here in Texas.”

Central Freight Lines will be presented plaques in recognition of its achievements at the TMTA Annual Conference Safety/Maintenance Award Luncheon in San Antonio, Aug. 2. As the winner of a class of competition, Central is eligible to compete for the coveted Grand Trophy, which will be awarded at that time.

Central Freight Lines is a privately owned and operated less-than-truckload for-hire common carrier headquartered in Waco, TX. The company operates 1,600 tractors and 8,000 trailers from 51 terminals throughout the Southwest.
