VisionTrack, Applied Driving partner on telematics-powered driver coaching

June 6, 2023
Fleets will be able to combine VisionTrack's video data with Applied Driving's driver coaching tools, allowing for more targeted safety training.

Telematics provider VisionTrack has entered a partnership to integrate Applied Driving's driver safety and coaching tools into its Internet of Things platform. The integration will allow users to apply VisionTrack's 360-degree video data and cloud-based analysis to driver coaching for enhanced safety, the companies stated in a press release.

"We are passionate about road safety and committed to working with like-minded organizations, such as Applied Driving, to continually push the boundaries of what is possible," stated Matthew Ison, head of sales (North America) at VisionTrack. "By integrating our AI video telematics with Applied Driving's innovative, safe driving technologies and processes, we can develop advanced solutions that further mitigate the impact of road, driver, and fleet risk."

Under the partnership, Applied Driving's online web application Riskmapp, the company's driver risk assessment and online training platform, will be integrated with VisionTrack's IoT platform. The solution will allow fleets to use video and telematics data from around the vehicle, including from forward, driver, side, and rear-facing cameras, for safety coaching.

Footage of collisions and near misses will be uploaded to Riskmapp after being assessed and verified by VisionTrack's AI-powered analysis tool, NARA. It will be available for review by both Applied Driving staff and the fleet customer, as well as shared with the driver. Video and supporting data will also be used where additional coaching and engagement is required, using real-life examples to encourage safer driving habits.

"This is a hugely exciting partnership that has the potential to transform how our fleet customers tackle driver and fleet risk reduction," explains Andy Phillips, Global Managing Partner at Applied Driving. "By providing access to the latest technologies and integrations, we are helping companies to build a safe driving culture that prioritizes the welfare of drivers and other road users. Working closely with VisionTrack, we can take advantage of the latest advances in AI video telematics and the benefits this provides."
