SkyBitz names new CEO

Dr. Homaira Akbari has been appointed CEO of SkyBitz, the satellite-based asset tracking provider. She has also been elected to the company's board of directors. Most recently, Dr. Akbari was executive vp-operations for TruePosition, a provider of wireless location technologies. She has also served as a senior director for Microsoft, and was a principal at the management consulting firm Cambridge

Dr. Homaira Akbari has been appointed CEO of SkyBitz, the satellite-based asset tracking provider. She has also been elected to the company's board of directors.

Most recently, Dr. Akbari was executive vp-operations for TruePosition, a provider of wireless location technologies. She has also served as a senior director for Microsoft, and was a principal at the management consulting firm Cambridge Strategic Management Group and worked as a scientist for CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research.

Dr. Akbari holds a Ph.D. with honors in particle physics from Tufts University and an MBA with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University.
