A new version of @Road's Workforce Manager is being developed for Research In Motion's Blackberry handheld email platform, according to the two companies. Intended for field service operations, the new application will use GPS to automatically update work status and location as well as provide field personnel with dynamic routing.
When a manager dispatches a new job with Workforce Manager, the Blackberry unit will automatically alert the field worker, providing routing and job information. A dynamic map using GPS location will then display updated route information as needed. The unit will also automatically update the system when it reaches the assigned work site.
Integrating dispatch, routing, navigation and data management, the new field-service system for the Blackberry will also generate real-time management reports on field activity including such details as job times, start and end times, mileage and travel times. www.road.com
