Hino expands partnership with Telogis

Oct. 27, 2015
Telematics firm also forges new global deal with Element Fleet Management.

A range of new “connected vehicle” services are going to be available on Hino Trucks in the near future, via an expanded partnership with telematics firm Telogis.

The companies made a joint announcement at the annual Telogis Latitude user group meeting this week at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, CA.

More than 18 months after the deployment of Hino’s Insight service, the truck maker is expanding that telematics platform – which is supported by Telogis – to provide two new capabilities.

Both Insight Remote Diagnostics (Insight RD) and Insight Case Management (Insight CM) will be offered free for one-year on every Hino truck equipped with Telogis’ Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based telematics platform.

“In today’s ultracompetitive environment, customers need real-time data on vehicle and driver performance to manage their fleet efficiently,” noted Glenn Ellis, Hino’s VP of marketing, dealer operations and product planning, in a statement. “Insight allows us to connect the vehicle between the customer, dealer and OEM, shifting the paradigm in providing a higher level of service and communication.”

Telogis added that it is also forging a new “strategic global agreement” with Element Fleet Management to offer connected vehicle technologies to Element’s commercial customers.

Telogis said that this new “strategic relationship” will enable customers around the world to more easily connect and optimize vehicles and equipment, while providing mobile workforces with applications that promote safety, productivity and efficiency.

Element noted that it operates in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as in Australia and New Zealand, managing the “complete lifecycle” of customer assets, including vehicles and heavy equipment, from purchasing, leasing, and maintenance.

“We believe that OEMs will play a key role in the future of telematics, and the relationships that Telogis has established bring significant value to our long-term strategy,” noted Michele Cunningham, Element’s senior VP of products and services, in a statement. “We’re committed to offer the highest value content, in the most seamless fashion, to our customers.”
