Bestpass-Fleetworthy acquires Drivewyze, creating ‘meaningful change to the industry’
Bestpass-Fleetworthy Solutions has acquired Drivewyze, combining the industry’s largest toll management and weigh station bypass providers. The acquisition will offer a “comprehensive suite of services covering all aspects of tolling, weigh station bypass, compliance, and safety for commercial fleets of all sizes,” according to a Bestpass announcement.
“This is, I think, a dream come true to many of the large customers that I've talked to because it just simplifies the things that really isn't their core mission,” Tom Fogarty, Bestpass-Fleetworthy CEO, told FleetOwner. “Their core mission is safety and keeping the fleets operating on the roads, but being able to do that in a much simpler way is something that they strive for.”
Drivewyze and Bestpass announced a partnership in 2023 to streamline the weigh station bypass and toll management services; however, this acquisition combines the two brands and creates a one-stop solution for Drivewyze and Bestpass-Fleetworthy customers. As a combined company, customers will benefit from “an even more integrated and expansive suite of services,” Bestpass noted in the release.
The news of this acquisition comes less than two years after the companies began their initial partnership, which Fogerty said has “grown in its own right.”
After working with Bestpass in the partnership, Brian Heath, Drivewyze co-founder and CEO, observed how his customers saw value in the “broader basket of services” that Drivewyze could offer with the partnership. The acquisition will extend that and more.
“The folks at Bestpass and the culture that Tom [Fogerty] is creating there fits really well with the way that we've approached and built our business,” Heath told FleetOwner. With "Fleetworthy and Bestpass and Drivewyze together, we can achieve a scale that we've always wanted to, which will make meaningful change in the industry.”
According to the brands, the acquisition will bring the following benefits to Bestpass and Drivewyze customers:
- Greater efficiency through a connected suite of solutions for toll management, weigh station bypass, and safety and compliance.
- Enhanced support and expertise through customer and expert advisory services.
- Continuous innovation through both brands’ commitment to innovation, ensuring fleets operate more efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.

Acquisition won't disrupt current services
While Drivewyze offers a weigh station bypass service, PreClear, the brand also places a strong focus on truck operator safety with its expansive in-cab alert system, Drivewyze Free, available to any fleet vehicle or truck driver on the road at no charge.
Through relationships with state and local agencies, Drivewyze Free sends in-cab alerts to warn drivers of potential risks or hazards on their route, such as high-rollover risks, low bridges, sudden slowdowns, construction zones, and more. Heath assured that this acquisition will not affect Drivewyze Free customers.
Drivewyze Free will “always be free,” Heath said. “That's part of the arrangement we have with state agencies that are providing safety-critical information to be distributed and shared with the trucking community. Our partnership is to turn around and offer those essential alerts and advisories as a free service, so we will continue to offer Drivewyze Free.”
Though it will operate as a Bestpass-Fleetworthy product offering, Drivewyze will continue to operate under its own name. Additionally, Drivewyze and Bestpass-Fleetworthy customers will not experience any disruption to their existing services and support.

The acquisition has garnered positive customer reception
Bestpass and Drivewyze have spoken to some mutual customers as well as customers who use the service of just one of the companies and have received positive feedback.
“The general sentiment is, ‘I can't wait until it is one single offering, fully integrated because my life gets easier,’” Fogerty told FleetOwner.
Kenan Advantage Group, a tank truck transporter and logistics provider, is one such customer. Jude Groves, Kenan Advantage Group’s EVP of safety, sustainability, and training, said the acquisition brings together industry leaders who deliver “unmatched value” to fleet operations—even on their own.
“The complementary synergies of joining these pillars together only grow that offering,” Groves said. “As a longstanding customer of all three organizations, we are excited about this acquisition as it aligns with our goals of delivering safety excellence, enhancing operational efficiency, and further advancing our compliance programs with the right partnerships and technology solutions."
