LOUISVILLE, KY. A new refrigerated trailer from Dorsey Trailer includes a 10-year warranty. The LiteGuard 5000, unveiled at a press briefing here at the Mid-America Trucking Show, is engineered to be the toughest, lightest, and most energy efficient reefer ever produced by Dorsey.
“Dorsey’s goal is to continue to build the most durable trailers on the market,” Jeff Pitts, president of Pitts Enterprises, parent to Dorsey, said. “We’re using the highest quality materials, the most advanced engineering techniques and a tradition of craftsmanship that has literally been passed down from generation to generation on the same factory floor over the last century. With the introduction of the LiteGuard 5000, I’m excited to announce that the 10-year trailer warranty has officially arrived.”
Dorsey designed the LiteGuard 5000 to be stronger, yet lighter than previous models.
“We’re still over engineering our trailers,” Trey Gary, vice president and chief operating officer for Dorsey Trailer, said. “We’re just doing it in a more sophisticated way––a way that brings even greater value to the end user by lowering trailer operating costs and raising resale values.”
The trailer includes a heavy-duty floor construction; impact resistant, heavy-duty stainless steel rear frame; tough, stainless steel upper coupler; and highly engineered rear doors with proprietary fuel-saving seal design all as standard features, Gary said.
The LiteGuard 5000 includes “foam-in-place insulation techniques,” rather than pre-formed insulation panels, to ensure a continuous seal, thus reducing wear on the trailer’s refrigeration unit and reducing operational fuel costs, the company said.
Dorsey pumps foam while it is in a liquid state into trailer cavities by hand to ensure that the insulation will reach tight spaces and properly seal the trailer.
“All this technology aside, our real competitive advantage is the sheer craftsmanship that has been part of the Dorsey culture since the beginning of the last century,” Gary said. “Sound engineering, high-performance materials and computer aided design capabilities are all requirements to simply stay in business in today’s competitive environment. On paper we have a superior product; in reality we have a stellar product that has been effectively handcrafted by artisans in the same American town since 1911.”
The company is also celebrating its 100th anniversary and will be giving away a LiteGuard 5000 at the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show. The giveaway is open to anyone 21 years of age or older holding a current, valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License issued in any of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.
