East Manufacturing has released a built-in stairway for platform trailers, offering an easier and safer exit and entrance

East Manufacturing has released a built-in stairway for platform trailers, offering an easier and safer exit and entrance to the flatbed deck, the company said.

According to East, because the deck lid is load bearing, the trailer loses no deck area due to the stairway.

“When open, the deck lid locks securely in the upright position via double rods that slide into two specially designed receivers,” said Bill McKenzie, product manager for platform products. “The first of two handrails is located under the lid, providing a handy 45° vertical handhold that’s above deck height. The second handrail is built next to the steps.”

The company also announced the promotions of Gary Brown to vp of manufacturing and Cam Weese to plant superintendent. Brown, who joined the company as a welder in May 1976 and most recently was plant manager, will be responsible for all plant operations.

Weese began as a body welder at East in February 1991, and has been general supervisor of the Body Dept. and Fabrication since 1999.
