The 2025 FleetOwner 500: For-Hire list ranks the largest motor carrier and commercial fleet operations in the U.S. by total registered power units. Released in mid-February, the FO500 saw major shake-ups in all but the top five spots.
In addition to ranking the largest overall for-hire fleet operations, FleetOwner breaks down these companies into categories, based on equipment, cargo types, and industry segments. This media gallery focuses on the fleets with the most Class 8 tractors; upcoming FleetOwner top 10 lists will rank fleets by the most trailers and other subsections.

This year's top 10 tractor list featured multiple shake-ups compared to last year.
FedEx stayed at No. 1 while adding more than 200 tractors to its fleet. At No. 2, Knight-Swift increased its fleet size with an additional 1,300 tractors. J.B Hunt, which has 10 fewer tractors in 2025 than in 2024, remained at No. 3.
UPS and R+L Carriers swapped places on this list, with UPS rising to No. 4 and R+L dropping to No. 5. But both increased their fleet populations by 3,259 and 856 tractors, respectively. Schneider and TFI made similar swaps, with TFI rising to No. 6 and Schneider falling to No. 7. Both also significantly upgraded their numbers of tractors, with TFI adding approximately 5,400 and Schneider adding 2,400.
Coming in at No. 8, Estes Express Lines is new to this list this year with 11,227 tractors. Prime is in a similar boat at No. 9 with 10,875. Finally, Old Dominion Freight Line holds the No. 10 spot this year, falling from No. 9 last year despite increasing its tractor population by 545.
