OPW adds Direct Pump Control for Gasboy dispensers

OPW added a Direct Pump Control interface for several Gasboy dispensers that enables commercial fuel sites to lower the equipment costs.

OPW announced the addition of a Direct Pump Control (DPC) interface for several Gasboy dispensers that enables commercial fuel sites to lower the equipment costs associated with traditional pump control technologies.

Now available for four Gasboy dispenser models, OPW’s DPC uses a serial communication line to directly communicate with OPW’s FSC3000 Fuel Site Controller. Through “daisy chaining,” the serial communication line pares the necessary wiring to just two wires. A traditional pump control solution, such as a Pump Control Module (PCM), requires six wires per fueling position. In addition, a commercial fuel site utilizing PCM requires a PCM for every two hoses being controlled; DPC utilizes just one interface to control up to 16 single- or dual-sided dispensers.

“The pump control equipment costs for four PCM-configured double-sided dispensers can be around $4,000, but the equipment costs for four DPC-configured double-sided dispensers is around $1,800,” said Jeremy Lewis, commercial business development manager, Fuel Control. “While there are several factors that influence installation costs, it’s not unreasonable to expect that DPC could yield an additional cost savings between $500 and $2,000 over and above the equipment costs.”

OPW’s DPC is available for the following Gasboy dispensers:

  • Gasboy Atlas 9800K Commercial Series Dispenser

  • ASTRA Series 9820Q Electronic Commercial Pump

  • Atlas Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dispenser for Fleet Fueling

  • Atlas E85 and Alternative Fuels Fleet Fuel Dispensers
