PeopleNet
, a provider of on-board computers and mobile communications for the transportation industry, has announced adding eight new features to its wireless service and Web interface. The upgrade includes three major applications that provide fleet managers detailed logistics reports.
PTO, Idle and Off Road Event Reporting is an application that automatically records the location and the amount of fuel used during PTO (power take-off), idling, and off-road situations. That information can be used to recover fuel costs, as permitted by some states and the federal government. The fuel costs and tax savings data can be compiled into daily, monthly, quarterly or annual reports.
The Activity Standards program gives access to comparative reports on travel times, stop times, average miles-per-hour, planned vs. unplanned stops, and total trip times. These reports highlight exceptions across events.
A “smart mode” has been added to the existing eDriver Logs application. The program now can automatically record driver’s duty status, as required by HOS, based on vehicle movement data recorded by the on-board ECM. Smart mode detects vehicle stops and starts to automatically switch drivers between on-duty and driving status.
PeopleNet has added several additions features, including:
-
in-cab mute option that allows drivers to mute audible message alerts
-
in-cab driver scorecard that displays real-time engine performance data
-
improved number, date and time fields on driver forms
-
state line crossing reporting, which documents the number of miles a vehicle or a group of vehicles travels within a state, for fuel tax reporting
-
PerformanceX feature is now available with a metric option
