To celebrate it’s 50th anniversary, GE’s Trailer Fleet Services business says it will hold a series of customer events at its branch locations over the next 50 days and that it’s employees have volunteered 5,000 hours for community service.

Headquartered in Wayne, PA, the GE trailer group traces its origins to Container Leasing Inc., which was incorporated on Sept. 12, 1957 in Philadelphia. The company later changed its name to Transport International Pool (TIP), and at one point was owned by the former Gelco Corp.

Trailer Fleet Services has been a wholly owned affiliate of GE for the past 20 years. Currently operating as a division of GE Equipment Services, it now has 1,100 employees at 100 locations in North America, owns 130,00 trailers and $1.5 billion in assets, and generated $550 million in revenue last year.

In addition to its trailer leasing and rental activities, the group provides maintenance service for both its own trailers and those owned by customers. It also sells approximately 30,000 used trailers every year through its remarketing program
