International sweeps ATD’s Truck of the Year competition

Jan. 27, 2014

Two of Navistar’s International truck models were both crowned Truck of the Year in their respective categories by the American Truck Dealers (ATD).

The ProStar with Cummins ISX15 received 2014 ATD Commercial Truck of the Year honors in the heavy duty (Class 8) category.  The TerraStar 4x4 took top honors in the medium-duty (Class 3-7) category.

Winners were announced during the ATD Convention & Expo in New Orleans. The winners were selected by a panel of journalists. Judging categories included innovation, design, safety and driver satisfaction.

Other nominees for the heavy-duty category were the Kenworth T880 Vocational Truck with Paccar MX-13 engine and Peterbilt Model 579. Nominees for the medium-duty (Class 3-7) were the Hino 195h-DC, Kenworth Class 6 K370 Cabover and Peterbilt Model 220.

“It is an honor to be recognized this year with both the 2014 ATD Heavy-Duty and Medium-Duty Commercial Truck of the Year titles,” said Bill Kozek, president of North America truck and parts for Navistar. “Being recognized in both these categories proves International is back with great product offerings.”

David G. Mannella, vice president and general manager of ITA Sales and Service, Harahan, LA, accepted the medium-duty award. He was joined onstage by Richard Sweebe, partner in Summit Holdings, Memphis, TN, to accept the heavy-duty award.
