The latest Kenworth Medium-Duty Cabover Body Builder Manual and new Kenworth cabover video are now available.

The 84-page Kenworth Cabover Body Builder Manual offers detailed sections on safety and compliance, dimensions, exhaust and aftertreatment, frame layouts and body mounting, frame modifications, and electrical. The manual contains information and guidelines useful in the truck body planning and installation processes, according to the company. Early in the vehicle definition and ordering process, body builders can often contribute valuable information that reduces the ultimate cost of the body installation.

“Our medium duty cabover body builder manual is a unique tool that allows customers to view frame layouts, component placement, and other critical information before the customer purchases a Kenworth cabover. This key information helps to ensure that the truck is specified correctly and will be ready and set up appropriately for efficient turnaround by the body builder,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director.

The K270 and K370 are powered by the 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-7 engine, which is rated up to 260 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque. Both models are standard with the 2100 HS Allison 5-speed transmission.

“A key advantage of the Kenworth cabovers over medium duty conventional trucks is its 55-degree wheel cut for a tighter turning radius and greater maneuverability for operating in crowded urban environments,” the company said. “The cabovers also offer a large windshield for enhanced visibility, and room to carry a three-person crew with an air-suspended driver seat and two-person bench seat.”

With a bumper to back of cab (BBC) of only 63.4 inches, the Kenworth cabovers provide increased room for body installations when compared to medium duty conventional products. “This enables the K270 and K370 to haul more payload with a shorter overall length,” the company noted. “This is especially important as overall truck length is becoming more regulated in some major metropolitan cities.”
