Michelin rolls out new Antisplash

Michelin has introduced the XZA3 Antisplash tire, designed to make highway driving safer

Michelin has introduced the XZA3 Antisplash tire, designed to make highway driving safer by lowering the trajectory of water spraying from the tires in heavy rain to improve visibility, the company said.

The Antisplash feature, first introduced in 2006 on the XZA2, reduces splash trajectory height by more than 50% compared to standard truck tires, according to Michelin. The company added that the new tire features the Antisplash deflector on both sidewalls of the tire, unlike the XZA2 Antisplash tire, which had the feature only on one side.

According to the company, the XZA3 features a 19/32nds tread depth to reduce the tire’s rolling resistance and increase fuel efficiency; an 80% wider shoulder rib than the XZA2 Antisplash tire, and directional miniature sipes in the groove walls.
