Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America’s heavy-duty starters are now standard equipment on all Navistar Class 8 International-branded trucks, the two companies have announced.
According to the company, Mitsubishi Electric’s starters feature a planetary gear reduction and sealed design, an integrated magnetic relay, a solid-shaft solenoid and electrical soft-start technology for increased reliability and durability.
The lightweight starters weigh only 29 lbs.--allowing for improved fuel economy and increased payload potential--and have a failure rate of less than 1%, according to Mitsubishi Electric.
