Navistar adds SCR to more engines, adds Diamond Logic to vocational vehicles

March 7, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS. Navistar said it will incorporate SCR into its high-horsepower mid-range engines this summer as part of its participation in this week’s NTEA Work Truck Show. The company said it will also add its Diamond Logic electric system on all International vocational trucks.

The company’s medium-duty SCR transition began in September 2013 with the International DuraStar and the Cummins ISB 6.7 liter engine. MaxxForce 9 and MaxxForce 10 engines with SCR will be available on the International DuraStar and International WorkStar vehicles.

“Our medium-duty transition to SCR started strong with our DuraStar with Cummins ISB6.7 and we have high expectations for this chassis/engine combination as we see the construction market continue to rebound,” said Bill Kozek, president, North America Truck and Parts, Navistar. “We also know a number of our customers require more horsepower and torque and we’re pleased to offer these customers an expanded engine choice by adding SCR to our 9L and 10L engines.”

The International TerraStar will also be offered with the Allison Optimized 1000 Series transmission with an optional 6th speed. With the addition of the 6th speed, Navistar said, the close ratio, fully-automatic transmission offers improved fuel economy, lower engine noise and optimized performance. The TerraStar also features a refined front suspension with a redesigned front spring and bumper. The suspension offers a smoother ride especially when driving over rough terrain.

All International vocational trucks will now feature the International Diamond Logic electrical system.

“Our Diamond Logic operating system is best known for its ability to provide control and communication between work trucks and body equipment, which allows for quick diagnosis and identification of fault codes as well as aids completion of DOT safety checks,” said Bob Mann, vice president, dealer sales, Navistar. “Diamond Logic also gives the truck owner and the truck equipment manufacturers the opportunity to create and write their own custom logic. By bundling the most widely used controls in the vocational segment, we are helping our customers more quickly identify their needed capabilities so they can then move on to customization.”

Diamond Logic offers nearly 200 factory available body integration and driver efficiency features, plus the ability to customize infinitely more vehicle functions.

Customers can work with their dealer using our Diamond Logic Builder software to custom program almost any electrical feature.
