DDC steps up engine overhauls

Truck engine maker Detroit Diesel Corp. (DDC) is offering a new overhaul service designed to make it easier for fleets to choose the Series 60 engine revitalization program that best meets their operating needs and budget.

Called StepUp, the program offers four levels of overhauls, depending on length of ownership and application:

  • Step 1: A basic overhaul geared for vehicles with lower mileage and fewer problems;

  • Step 2: Adds cylinder head assembly and rocker arm kits to the basic overhaul;

  • Step 3: For high-mileage engines, includes complete injector change-out, water pump and turbocharger;

  • Step 4: Reman'd 3/4 engine assembly trimmed out with combination of existing and replacement parts; or complete reman'd engine.

DDC specifies that every part used in the overhauls is either new or completely remanufactured, not just spot-repaired.
