Monitoring oil in real time

Mar 1, 2008 12:00 PM

IntelliStick has introduced a dipstick replacement sensor that enables fleets to remotely monitor their trucks' engine oil in real time. The sensor monitors the oil by measuring additive conditions and oxidation or acid buildup in the oil, while scanning for water, coolant or fuel.

The dipstick sensor communicates with any MS-based Bluetooth-enabled PDA, cellphone or laptop, providing a graphic called the Kauffman Curve.

Intellistick said the product eliminates relying on best-guess mileage and time intervals or off-site lab analysis to determine when to change the oil.
