International Truck & Engine Corp. plans to unveil the newest truck model in its PayStar line-the 5900i Set-Back Axle (SBA) — the ConExpo-Con/Agg show next March. A Class 8 vocational on/off-road vehicle, the new PayStar can be ordered now through the OEM's dealer network.

According to International, the PayStar 5900i SBA is designed to address needs for front-load distribution and better maneuverability. It is especially suited to vocational applications such as construction, oilfield, logging, heavy-hauling and mining. The new model is powered by a Caterpillar or Cummins diesel engine with up to 625 hp.

Built on a standard 12.25-in. frame rail, the 5900i SBA PayStar chassis sports a lightweight aluminum cab with an aggressively sloped hood. Other features include: redesigned front grille for improved cooling; outside air cleaners for improved air intake and reduced service intervals; standard wide-track axles for increased maneuverability (available later); standard dual power steering gears that require less steering effort (for front axles 14,600 lb. and higher); and Whisper Cab sound insulation package.
