Chrysler’s Ram Truck division plans to offer a diesel-powered version of its 2014 Ram 1500 half-ton pickup starting in the third quarter this year.
The company said it will introduce a 3.0-liter V6 version of its new EcoDiesel engine mated to its eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission in an effort to boost both fuel economy and low-end torque for its half-ton Ram 1500 pickup, which it redesigned for the 2013 model year, as well as reduce noise by 60%.
"Truck owners have been emphatically asking for it,” noted Fred Diaz, president and CEO of the Ram Truck division and Chrysler de Mexico. “There's no doubt … this technology will provide Ram with a competitive advantage."
