In an attempt to combat cargo theft, Travelers Inland--working with the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB)--has released the Travelers Sting Trailer, which the company said will provide law enforcement with the required evidence to aid in the apprehension of organized cargo theft rings.

According to the National Cargo Security Council, cargo theft accounts for up to $25 billion in direct merchandise losses annually. The Travelers Sting Trailer was built with design and construction input from NICB and law enforcement organizations, Travelers Inland said.

“The use of ‘sting’ trailers has dramatically reduced the incidents of cargo theft in those areas where they are deployed,” said Joe Wehrle, NICB president & CEO. “Having the Travelers Sting Trailer extends a very successful application of technology into the commercial transport environment.”

Travelers Inland is a division of The Travelers Companies that addresses the risk management and insurance needs of is customers.
