• Way out of the woods

    March 10, 2014

T.A. Peterman started building his namesake Peterbilt trucks back in 1939.  He started out in Oakland, CA, initially aiming for a vehicle expressly designed for hauling logs from the forest to the mill. Pictured is a fully restored circa ’39 Pete.

To help celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding, Peterbilt is sending a special edition Model 579 on tour hauling a “museum on wheels” that will visit Pete dealerships and industry events around the country.  The converted trailer is filled with artifacts and interactive kiosks highlighting the marque’s storied history.
