The annual FTR Transportation Conference held in Indianapolis, IN, started off with a day of "workshops" designed to focus in on specific freight-industry issues; everything from a broad U.S. economic outlook, the impact of Phase 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations on trucking, and the legal ramifications of changes to independent contractor rules on down to more "tactical" concerns such as how aggregating truckloads can save money for shippers while providing steadier and "smoother" volumes for motor carriers.
