Turnpike Global Technologies is giving the onboard data recorder market a shake-up these days by offering its own EOBR hardware device, RouteTracker, at no charge

Turnpike Global Technologies (www.turnpikeglobal.com) is giving the onboard data recorder market a shake-up these days by offering its own EOBR hardware device, RouteTracker, at no charge.

According to Steve Kull, director of marketing & design for the company, Turnpike now requires only a $25 per month per vehicle usage fee, plus a one-time activation charge of $35 per truck to access its system. In the past, the price for the RouteTracker unit was $600 to $675 plus $15 per month per vehicle.

The new pricing model may be the first of its kind in the telematics market, Kull notes. Whether it is first or not, however, it has apparently been a hit with EOBR purchasers.

“We believe that our hardware device is just a tool that helps us to capture the data that we need to provide our customers with world-class service,” he said. “We have seen a dramatic increase in our customer base since its inception.”
