SMC³ has released the first product in its XL suite, which the company said increases the speed at which shipment rating calculations are performed via the Web with no software installation necessary.

“SMC³’s XL technology was designed to apply intelligent rating processes to supply chain management – all within the legacy and best-of-breed technology solutions our customers already have,” said Warren Patterson, SMC³ senior vp of product strategy and development.

The first product in the XL technology suite, RateWare, supports LTL, truckload and small package rates, handling 80,000 requests per second, the company said.

SMC³ also plans to release a XL version of CarrierConnect, which the company said will keep shippers informed of important carrier information through combining carrier transit time and points of service information with SOA technology and Web delivery systems.

RateWare XL is currently available while CarrierConnect XLL is scheduled for release during the second quarter of 2008, with other XL-related products to follow.
