The GE VeriWise trailer tracking system is now using a new satellite transceiver developed and manufactured by Delphi Corp. The unit, the DS300, provides two-way wireless data communications over the Orbcomm low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite network.

The new Delphi transceiver provides the same technical capabilities as the unit it replaces, but offers updated automotive-style connectors for easier installation and greater robustness, according to a GE spokesperson. Delphi also offers higher manufacturing production capacity to match increased demand for the VeriWise system, he said.

Functionally, the VeriWise tracking system remains unchanged, providing users with location, cargo status and other trailer information even when trailers are disconnected from tractors.
