FleetView 3, the latest generation of the trailer tracking system from Terion, is now offered with active geofencing, a feature that stores geofence information on the trailer unit itself and only alerts managers if a trailer crosses a stored boundary. Passive geofencing identifies boundary crossings after the event, relying on the system's server to detect the event based on location reports transmitted from the trailer.

The new FleetView 3 feature can report trailers entering or exiting a landmark set by the fleet, as well as alert customers if a trailer equipped with optional cargo and doors sensors is unloaded or doors opened outside of its intended destination.

Alerts triggered by the new active geofencing feature can be sent via email or as a text message to a cell phone.
