GlobalWave offers sensors

TransCore has developed a temperature sensor and an infrared cargo sensor for its satellite-based trailer tracking system, the GlobalWave MT2000.

The cargo sensor sends an infrared light beam down the entire length of a trailer two feet above the floor, enabling it to accurately sense the presence of cargo. Scans can be performed on a schedule, polled as needed by fleets or triggered by events such as door openings or trailer movement. It can be programmed over the air or by wire via the GlobalWave unit's RS232 port.

The temperature sensor can be used to monitor refrigerated cargo or tanker skin temperatures, according to TransCore. It can send email or text alerts if high or low temperature limits are exceeded.
