American Leak Detection, a company offering detection of hidden water and sewer leaks, has named Teletrac's FleetDirector the preferred automated vehicle location system for its 150 franchisees. The system uses land-based wireless communications for vehicle tracking and two-way messaging.

Sitton Motor Lines will equip all 500 of its tractors with the new GPRS high-speed land-based version of GeoLogic's MobileMax wireless communications and fleet management system. Geologic added Cingular Wireless GPRS digital service as a communications option for its system late last year.

Truckload carrier Des Moines Transportation has announced that it will install the SkyBitz untethered trailer tracking system in its fleet. The company uses owner-operators exclusively to move food products and other freight throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Refrigerated carrier Robert Heath Trucking has installed PeopleNet tracking and mobile communications systems on all 150 tractors in its fleet. Based in Lubbock, TX, the 66-year-old fleet hauls fresh produce, meat, beer and other products for a customer list that includes Safeway, Anheuser-Busch and Cargill.

The PrintPAD 7900 from O'Neil Product Development combines the company's portable 4T thermal printer with a vehicle cradle for Hand Held's Dolphin 7900 mobile computer. A Bluetooth option also allows the handheld unit to wirelessly communicate with the mobile printer. The printer can produce over 2,000 receipts on a single battery charge, according to O'Neil. www.oneilprinters.com

One of the country's largest independent local telephone companies, Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises has replaced an older fleet management system with RoadBase from Chevin Fleet Solutions. Among other features, RoadBase integrates with the company's Oracle financial management system and two commercial fuel card systems currently used by its service fleet.

Mobilistics Inc. of Halifax, Nova Scotia has signed an agreement to distribute and support the Netistix' FleetPulse telematics system in Atlantic Canada. FleetPulse offers fleet managers wireless access and monitoring of vehicle operating data.
