Telematics offers accurate mpg

Version 2.1 of the FleetPulse telematics system provides fleet managers with highly accurate vehicle fuel consumption information based on actual mass airflow data from an engine's electronic control unit, according to developer Netistix Technologies.

The FleetPulse update also allows fleet managers to automatically generate and email exception reports based on their own thresholds for events such as idle time and vehicle speed. Audible alarms can also be set to warn drivers when they exceed fleet limits.

Changes to the updated system's GPS data capture now triggers location recording based on key driving events such as change of direction. By switching from the system's previous scheduled location captures, FleetPulse now provides better route information without any increase in memory or wireless bandwidth, according to Netistix.
