Providing location and status information over the Globalstar network of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, the AXTracker MMT cuts hardware cost and size while increasing battery life and simplifying installation by offering only one-way communications from a mobile asset. The simplex wireless communications device can operate for up to seven years on a single, unrechargable battery and is intended for tracking intermodal containers, trailers, heavy equipment, service vehicles and fixed assets, according to Axonn LLC.
The new AXTracker MMT measures only 4×12×1 in. and can be quickly installed with double-sided adhesive tape or screw mountings. It requires no external power, and the battery can be easily replaced, according to Axonn.
The MMT can also be fitted with a 2.4 GHz radio for wireless extraction of stored data by a laptop or handheld device. www.axonn.com
