CoPilot sits in Pocket PC

Developed specifically for truck drivers by ALK Technologies, CoPilot Truck | Pocket PC 6 offers audio and mapped navigation on Pocket PC handheld computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

Map data and routing for the new product is supplied by the company's latest PC*Miler database, which has been condensed into less than 1GB for use in portable devices. The package also includes a compact GPS receiver with integrated antenna that can be placed on the truck's dashboard and connected to the handheld by wire or with Bluetooth wireless technology.

Directions from CoPilot Truck are provided graphically in real-time on a Pocket PC's color screen, which shows both the route immediately ahead and the next turn. Language options for spoken directions include U.S. English, U.K. English, Australian English, Spanish, French and German.

With a separate wireless service plan, the new system can be used for messaging, remote dispatch and driver/vehicle tracking, according to ALK. A software developers kit is also available for integration with transportation management systems.
