Fort Smith, AR-based ABF Freight System is providing transportation and logistical support to ABC TV's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series — a program that boasts the complete renovation of an entire house in seven days by a team of designers and craftsmen led by carpenter Ty Pennington. The program is not just another reality show. It lends its considerable services to persons struck by hard times, including a widower who cares for eight children, ages 6 to 18.

Blue-plate special

As part of an Indiana Depart. of Revenue (DOR) pilot program, Celadon Trucking Services fleet vehicles will soon display license plates branded with the company's own logo. DOR says 4,800 Indiana truck plates were lost or stolen last year. At an average cost of $1,800 per semi plate, DOR hopes the new program will deter thieves. The idea is simple: custom logo plates can be more easily identified as stolen by law enforcement officials and those working at weigh stations. DOR expects the special will encourage trucking companies to plate their trucks in Indiana, which, of course, would increase title and registration fees paid to the Hoosier State.

If a job applicant isn't willing to play by the rules during an interview, they probably aren't going to follow them in the truck.

Dog got it

Don't think Greyhound Bus Lines competes against FedEx and UPS? Turns out Greyhound PackageXpress (GPX) is expanding its expedited package service. The Hound's offering same-day or early-next day door-to-door delivery within a 350-mi. lane via a partnership with 4SameDay Couriers, a division of Sidewinder N.A. The new service will roll out in Texas and is expected to expand nationwide by year's end.
