Some 400 fleet users and other industry professionals were introduced to the new LoadMaster Enterprise fleet management system at McLeod Software's annual users conference. The Java-based software offers the same fleet-management features as McLeod's current LoadMaster product, but is platform independent.

The distributed computing architecture of the Enterprise version means it can be scaled to run on a single workstation or a corporate network, while the Java base will allow it to operate across PCs, Linux and UNIX servers, AS-400s and mainframes. It also features a Windows-style graphical interface and is compatible with most major database applications, including Informix, DB2, Oracle and Microsoft SQL.

McLeod says Enterprise has also been developed to provide current LoadMaster users with an easy upgrade path.
