Untethered trailer tracking with @Track's TrackWare system now offers coverage within all of North America. Under a new agreement with Numerex Corp., @Track has extended the system's Cellemetry wireless coverage to both Canada and Mexico starting last month. Cellemetry is a patented technology that transmits data at low cost over an unused control channel in analog cell phone networks.

The extended coverage was automatically made available to all TrackWare customers, according to a company spokesperson. Hand-offs to the Mexican and Canadian networks are seamless and invisible to fleet users, he adds.

TrackWare provides GPS-based tracking for trailers without any wires or other connections to tractors. It can also be set up to monitor trailer events such as doors opening, automatically alerting fleets when it detects a change in status.
