Bridgestone Americas restructures under a new name

Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. has restructured its North American operations under a new name -- Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) -- effective January 1, 2009.

Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. has restructured its North American operations under a new name, effective January 1, 2009. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) will consist of the company’s Latin American tire operations, the U.S. and Canadian consumer tire businesses and the U.S. and Canadian commercial tire businesses, Bridgestone said.

At the beginning of 2009, Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., the parent company of the Bridgestone Group’s Americas tire operations, will be known as Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (BSAM), while Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT), as a legal entity, will be renamed Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC (BATO). Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) will be led by Asahiko “Duke” Nishiyama.

In addition, BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC (BFRC) will be remained Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BSRO), while Bridgestone Firestone Latin American Tire Operations (BFLA) will be known as the Latin American Tire division, BATO.

The company also announced that Christine Karbowiak, vp of community and corporate relations for BSAH, will join the Bridgestone Americas Board of Directors effective Jan. 1, 2009, becoming the first woman to serve on a Bridgestone Group Board.
