    Diesel prices averaged $3.97 for the week of March 17, for an increase of $0.15 in the past week, according to data compiled by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

    The price marks a $0.57 increase in the past month and an increase of $1.29 in the past year.

    Average prices in five of the ten regions of the country EIA measures have surpassed $4.00 per gallon, with the Central Atlantic region the most expensive at $4.18 per gallon and the Rocky Mountain region the cheapest at $3.89 per gallon.
