LOUISVILLE. Small fleets running six or fewer trucks may now join the “Advantage Program” started by Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) several years ago to provide truck owners with consistent tire and service pricing and emergency road service as well as safety and maintenance training information.

“When we originally introduced this program, a fleet had to operate between 15 and 99 trucks to participate,” Fritz Mueller, MAT small fleet business segment manager, told Fleet Owner, here last week at the Mid America Trucking Show. “Last year, we added fleets operating six or more trucks. Now we’re opening it up to those operating even just one truck.”

Mueller noted the overall popularity of the Advantage Program is rising. “For example, in January, Michelin doubled the number of customers who signed up for this program compared to the same month last year,” he said.

He also pointed out that the program is designed to provide consistent pricing on both new tire products and Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) retread products. Purchases by those enrolled in the program may be made with any Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card.

Program members also receive access to Michelin’s ONCall emergency road service with no dispatch fee. Access to the anytime, any-day service is by calling (800) TIRE-911. Members also receive access to Michelin’s Commercial Service Network of tire dealers.

“The only requirement is for members to use a credit card,” Mueller noted. “We broadened this program to include one-truck owners because we realize that they need access to the same products and services as big fleets do.”
