Roadside clinic opens in Knoxville

Roadside Medical Clinic & Lab and Pilot Travel Centers have opened a medical clinic at the Strawberry Plains Pilot Travel Center in Knoxville, TN, one of numerous facilities scheduled to open across the country this year.

The first Roadside clinic opened earlier this year in Georgia, with 16 more scheduled for 2008 and 20 for 2009. The clinics will address health risks faced by over-the-road drivers and offer a driver wellness program tailored to drivers’ travel schedules, Roadside said.

“Roadside Medical Clinic & Lab is different than any other medical resource available to drivers today,” said Joe Neely of Roadside Medical. “We provide drivers with medical assistance and we make it easy for them to integrate practical health-care solutions into their schedules.”

The clinics are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and do not require an appointment. The wellness programs feature five components, including a complete physical assessment; annual wellness planning; monitoring and exercise program; complete bio-blood panel and DOT exam and a trained health and wellness professional—including registered nurses and dieticians and certified fitness trainers-- available via phone.
