Tresca Brothers Sand and Gravel, based in Millis, MA, was recently selected as a first place award winner in the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) Fleet Graphics Competition for 2007.
For the past five years, Tresca Brothers has helped to raise awareness for numerous charities and the U. S. Armed Forces through the unique graphics on the drums of the company’s concrete trucks.
According to fleet manager Pete Cakridas, the charity logos on the trucks started with the American Liver Foundation and Buddy Dog Humane Society. One of the company’s owners, Bob Tresca, was involved with both charities and hoped putting the charity logos and web addresses on the side of a few Tresca trucks might bring the charities some additional awareness. “There was such a great response from everyone involved that the idea just took off,” he said.
Other featured charities included Half the Sky Foundation, the Meyers Family foundation, the Neurofibromatosis foundation, and Orphan Cancer, a foundation for children’s cancer. Having a well-defined image for the company fleet is very important to Tresca Brothers, according to Cakridas, and it contributes to the morale of the drivers and other employees. “Every person who works here has more pride in what they do because of the causes we support. The surrounding towns all look at the company in a positive way,” he said.
