LOUISVILLE, KY. GT Radial introduced a SmartWay verified radial trailer tire, giving the company a radial truck tire for every axle position.
The GT979 FS, introduced today at the Mid-America Trucking Show here, joins the GT Radial GSL213 FS steer tire and GT669+ FS drive tire. Both of those tires received SmartWay verification in 2010.
“This is great news for our customers because trailer tires have a significant impact on fuel economy,” said William Estupinan, GITI Tire technical director for the Americas.
The GT979 features five streamlined ribs for balanced contact pressure and even wear; four circumferential grooves for efficient water evacuation; and a shallow tread depth to prevent irregular wear.
The tire is available in sizes 215/75R17.5 and 255/70R22.5.
